Synthesis, physicochemical properties, and structural isomerism of cadmium chloride coordination compounds with epsilon -caprolactam

Two new differently structured cadmium(II) coordination polymers (I and II) of the same composition Cd(Cpl)Cl sub(2) (Cpl is epsilon -caprolactam) were synthesized. Their structure was characterized by IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Crystals of compounds I and II were monoclinic, space group...

Description
Summary:Two new differently structured cadmium(II) coordination polymers (I and II) of the same composition Cd(Cpl)Cl sub(2) (Cpl is epsilon -caprolactam) were synthesized. Their structure was characterized by IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Crystals of compounds I and II were monoclinic, space group P2 sub(1)/c, a = 10.0551(6) Aa, b = 15.2035(11) Aa, c = 6.6079(3) Aa, beta = 108.462(2) degree , V = 958.18(10) Aa super(3), rho sub(calcd) = 2.055 g/cm super(3), Z = 4 for I and a = 6.66620(10) Aa, b = 18.9061(4) Aa, c = 15.5188(3) Aa, beta = 96.8640(10) degree , V = 1941.84(6) Aa super(3), rho sub(calcd) = 2.028 g/cm super(3), Z = 8 for II. The thermolysis of compound I was studied thermogravimetrically.
