Description
Summary:Hybrid algorithm based on Artificial Neural Network and Decision Tree for managing tickets reservation process in passenger rail transport is developed in this paper. The basic idea of the proposed algorithm is to provide support to decision makers by defining real time suggestions about seat inventory allocations that is taking into account collected data. The main contribution of this paper to the revenue management in passenger rail transport is ability to manage variable capacity of sleeping cars. Probability and uncertainty of available capacity are embedded by Decision Tree, while Artificial Neural Network is used as a tool for making real time decisions. The findings are based on nested reservation system, and the algorithm is tested through data which simulate actual circumstances in Serbian rail network.[web URL: http://www.libraweb.net/articoli3.php?chiave=201606702&rivis ta=67&articolo=201606702009]
