Summary: | Modern variants of total artificial pulsating hearts such as Syncardia, Abiocor, and Carmat are reviewed. Technical characteristics of these devices are considered in detail, given their limitations, which are traditional for artificial pulsating hearts: low reliability and limited applicability due to the large size of the implantable module. The Carmat total artificial heart, which partially solves these problems and is currently at the stage of clinical trials, is reviewed in detail. |
