Description
Summary:The fast handover has better performance than Mobile IPv6 due to providing a new care-of-address (CoA) in advance and building tunnels for packet forwarding. However, the handover performance is downgraded if MN cannot finish the handover preparation before the current link is fail. In this paper, we propose an improved fast handover (IFH) scheme to resolve the above problems. In our proposed scheme, a mobile node (MN) can get a new CoA when it enters the domain of NAR. When MN starts a handover procedure, MN can switch to the new network domain smoothly because a new CoA is obtained in advance. As a result, the proposed scheme can improve the network performance of handover.
