Prevalence and phylogenetic characterization of human enterovirus D68 among children with respiratory infection in Hong Kong

Abstract This is the first report on the prevalence of human enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) among children with respiratory infection in Hong Kong. Among 1461 respiratory samples taken in 2014, EV-D68 was identified in 24 (1.64%) of them with a unusual seasonal pattern. Phylogenetic analysis indicated tha...

Summary:Abstract This is the first report on the prevalence of human enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) among children with respiratory infection in Hong Kong. Among 1461 respiratory samples taken in 2014, EV-D68 was identified in 24 (1.64%) of them with a unusual seasonal pattern. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that all EV-D68 detected in this study belong to clade B.
