Ratiometric sensing of fluoride anion through selective cleavage of Si O bond
A new imidazole-based ratiometric fluorescent probe for fluoride anion was designed and synthesized. The sensing abilities of the probe towards various anions were studied by absorption and emission spectroscopies in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as well as in DMSO/H2O. Summary: | A new imidazole-based ratiometric fluorescent probe for fluoride anion was designed and synthesized. The sensing abilities of the probe towards various anions were studied by absorption and emission spectroscopies in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as well as in DMSO/H2O. The spectroscopic studies reveal that the signalling mechanism involves the release of excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) activated imidazole via Si-O bond cleavage. |
