Summary:This article begins by reviewing some of the discoveries about Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus that Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 made prior to its pursuit of Neptune. The eleven scientific experiments onboard Voyager 2 are defined and the spacecraft itself is described. The planning stages of the Neptune study are discussed, including the geometry of the exact trajectory and aiming point which would bring the spacecraft closest to the planet. The science highlights listed and described are its 1) atmosphere, 2) rings, 3) magnetic field, 4) moons, and 5) Triton. The projections for Voyager 2's future conclude the article.
