Summary: | This paper presents the Fogbow middleware. This middleware addresses cloud federation challenges by providing an additional layer for federation a top each local private IaaS that wants to join the federation. It uses designed-to-federate, internet-friendly technologies like XMPP and it is flexible enough to deal with a wide range of cloud technologies, since it provides a plugin framework for allowing simpler interoperation with a wide range of orchestrators. The plugin framework is also useful to define the behaviour of each member of the federation, providing greater autonomy to these members. A lightweight business model based on barter has been implemented and provides a cheap way to federate small and medium size private IaaS cloud providers. |
