Summary: | The Asiatic chrysomelid Galerucella placida Baly is identified in Australia for the first time. It is a senior synonym of Adimonia mastersi Blackburn (syn. n.), described from New South Wales, a species that has also been placed in Hoplostines Blackburn, Poneridia Weise and Pyrrhalta Joannis. Galerucella placida feeds on Persicaria Mill. in near‐coastal south‐east Australia. The species is diagnosed and a key is provided for the group of genera to which it belongs in Australia. The genus Atysa Baly is newly recorded from Australia and a new combination noted: Poneridia elegans (Blackburn), from Hoplostines Blackburn. A lectotype is designated for Adimonia mastersi Blackburn. |
