Three-Dimensional Optical Data Storage Using Photochromic Materials

Recent developments in bit-oriented multilayered optical memories based on photochromic materials are examined. Current efforts to increase the memory density of optical devices are geared toward the development of durable short-wavelength compact lasers that emit blue or green light.
