Summary: | This article describes an acoustic system to visualise the location of partial discharges in electric power equipment. The system consists of an acoustic sensor array, a signal acquisition system, and signal-processing algorithms. The final result is an acoustic image of the sources of partial discharges that can be superimposed over an optical image. This study describes the characteristics of the sensor array, the processing algorithms used to locate sources of partial discharges, and the experimental performance results. |
