Enterovirus-71 genotype C isolated in Peru between 2006 and 2009

Highlights • Clinic-based surveillance in Peru identified four patients with EV71 infections. • All EV71 isolates were identified by VP1 sequencing to belong to the C1 genotype. • This is the first report of EV71 circulating in Peru.
