Summary: | In hallux valgus syndrome conservative measures can only be applied to relieve the symptoms. Insoles, orthoses, and toe alignment splints cannot improve forefoot deformity. However, symptoms due to increased local pressure can be alleviated with orthotic devices. After surgically realigning the hallux, splints are helpful to retain joint congruency and assure proper toe position during soft tissue healing. |
