Summary:Two new chalcones, podocarchalcones A and B ( 1 and 2 ), together with five known chalcones ( 3–7 ), were isolated from the whole plants of Desmodium podocarpum. All of their structures were determined by spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR. Compounds 1–7 were evaluated for their anti-tobacco mosaic virus (anti-TMV) activity, and they exhibited activity with inhibition rates in the range of 15.2–22.4%, respectively.
