Description
Summary:Although in basketball the greatest performance is achieved around the age of 19-20, the training starts early, even before the age of 10 and it takes a long time (10-12 years) having to overcome the difficult and controversial period of the puberty, under the conditions of a biological dynamics that is difficult to predict along the 10-12 years of training (Marinescu, Nini, 2004). This work aims at assessing the level of morphological development of 12-14 year-old children who practice the basketball game as part of a Basketball Sports Club in Galati, compared to a group of kids who do not practice any sports -students at the National College "A1. I. Cuza". In order to determine the morphological readiness of 12-14 year-old basketball players, trained and untrained, we have applied 6 specific measurements (height, weight, seize, bitrohanterian diameter, biachromial diameter, thoracic elasticity).
