Summary:The reaction of Co(ClO 4 ) 2 ·6H 2 O with 3-ethoxy-2-hydrogxy-benzaldehyde, methyamine and KOH in DMF solution, under solvothermal conditions, leads to the formation of the heterotetrametallic cluster {[Co 3 K(emimp) 4 (DCA) 2 ]·ClO 4 } 6 ·(H 2 O) ( 1 ) (Hemimp = 2-ethoxy-6- methyliminomethyl-phenol, HDCA = Dimethyl-carbamic acid). Compound 1 displays dominant anti-ferromagnetic interactions through μ 1,1,3,3 -DCA and μ 2 -O bridging mode. HDCA was synthesized by in situ reaction and DMF was oxidized.
