Evaluation of the genus of Caldicellulosiruptor for production of 1,2-propanediol from methylpentoses
Caldicellulosiruptor species degrade l-rhamnose and l-fucose to 1,2-propanediol. Six of the nine species within the genus produced 1,2-propanediol from l-rhamnose and three utilized l-fucose to produce the compound. Yields of 1,2-propanediol up to 40.5% of the theoretical yield were observed from me...

Summary: | Caldicellulosiruptor species degrade l-rhamnose and l-fucose to 1,2-propanediol. Six of the nine species within the genus produced 1,2-propanediol from l-rhamnose and three utilized l-fucose to produce the compound. Yields of 1,2-propanediol up to 40.5% of the theoretical yield were observed from methylpentoses catabolism.
•Caldicellulosiruptor species catabolize l-rhamnose and l-fucose to 1,2-propanediol.•1,2-PD yield of 63,1% on 20 mM l-rhamnose with 55.1% utilization (C. changbaiensis).•1,2-PD yield of 57.6% on 20 mM l-fucose with 67.2% utilization (C. saccharolyticus). |
