Deep dermatophytosis is an invasive, rare, and sometimes life-threatening fungal infection caused by dermatophytes [2], described only in isolated case reports and one case series [1]. [1], including male sex; immunosuppressive medication; asymptomatic nodular lesions localized in the lower extremities, with an indolent disease course; pathological findings of intradermal fungal elements; absence of hairfollicle involvement; and response to systemic antifungal medication. |
