Summary:Highlights • The most common physical-health morbidities among patients with schizophrenia in Bahrain were cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, musculoskeletal disorders, and obesity. • The prevalence of smoking, alcohol consumption, excessive dietary intake, and decreased PA are significantly higher in cases of schizophrenia compared with controls • Cases with schizophrenia are three times higher to have up to three physical-health morbidities. • Excessive dietary intake and decreased physical activity were identified as the main risk factors. for three or more medical comorbidities in patients with schizophrenia.
