An African chigger, Schoengastia pitheciagambiae n. sp. (Acari: Trombiculidae), from Gambia, West Africa, taken from cercopithicoid monkey hosts, Chlorocebus sabaeus (L.) and Papio papio (L.), is described. Notes on the collected host habitats are presented.
