Summary: | Various issues related to watershed management were discussed. Both policy diffusion literature and the diffusion of innovation literature to assess watershed management council's decisions to adopt, or not adopt, scientific models were used. The survey of councils in the United States that was conducted to determine the criteria used when selecting scientific models for studying watershed conditions was reported. The diffusion of innovation literature contributed to an understanding of how organization selected models by confirming the importance of a model's ability to provide better data. A gap was found between those who created scientific models and those who used these models. Shrinking the gap through more communication between these actors and advancing the need for developers to provide more technical assistance are recommended. |
