Summary: | The "Geritol Gang," as police dubbed the kidnappers, comprised two elderly couples who together lost more than 2 million Euros under [James Amburn]'s management. "[T]hey bound me like a mummy with masking tape," Amburn claimed, according to the Sun of London. "It took them quite a while because they ran out of breath." A Wall Street trade group is paying $70,000 per month to a strategic communications firm to head off what it fears is a "populist" backlash brewing against the finance industry. As Mother Jones helpfully informs us, one of the leaders of this effort will be Jim Wilkinson, whose résumé includes being the Bush campaign spokesman during the 2000 Florida vote recount and a member of the White House Iraq Group, helping frame the Bush administration's mendacious case for invading Iraq. |
