Summary: | Lawyers who are also parents need to take a clear-eyed business approach to preparing for and negotiating a mutually acceptable accommodation with law firm employers. If mother-lawyers approached their fight (and yes, it is a fight, where like it or not, the parent's interest is often adverse to that of her law firm employer) to accommodate her family and career in the same manner that she approached her clients' challenges daily, she would be far more successful in achieving the balance that she - and more importantly, her children - deserve. |
