Summary: | Batch slurry tests conducted with two trichloroethylene (TCE)-contaminated soils assessed hydrogen peroxide decomposition and TCE oxidation kinetics. The hydrogen peroxide lifetime was correlated with oxidation efficiency. TCE oxidation was realized only under conditions characterized by longer hydrogen peroxide lifetimes. Hydrogen peroxide decomposition was almost complete at 30 cm depth but was negligible when a potassium phosphate stabilizer was added; TCE oxidation performance was improved for the latter case. |
