Summary: | Plants of the genus Millettia are distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and Oceania. Among them, 35 species are distributed in China, and 27 species are reported from Yunnan Province. They are classified into sections based on the similarities of the fruits. Although the species are clearly distinctive in their features especially whether the plant is tree or vine, sometimes they are confused in herbaria because of lacking such information in the field. We observed the surface structure of the fruits with scanning electron microscope (SEM) to find characters available for identification in herbarium work. |
