The technique was developed and tested, using two rock-weathering bacteria Pseudomonas putida R-20 and Azospirillum brasilense Cd on marble, granite, apatite, quartz, limestone, and volcanic rock as substrates. The image analyzer processed large number of particles (10 7–10 8 per sample), so that the weathering capacity of bacteria can be detected.
