Description
Summary:The US contributes to multilateral assistance for forestry and the environment principally through official development assistance for the multilateral development banks and specialized agencies of the UN. However, the US provides less development assistance for forestry relative to other industrial nations, and many funded programs have proven ineffective. Reforms that could improve the efficacy of aid for forestry are suggested, including coordination of donors, extension of time frames, provision of additional funds, and empowerment of recipients.
