Summary: | Private forest landowners own three-quarters of Alabama's 22 million commercial forested acres. Improving private forest management can make a significant impact on the multiple resources provided by these forests. The Alabama Cooperative Extension System, through the Private Forest Management Team, cooperates with industry, landowner organizations, state and federal agencies, and others in several innovative programs. With limited budgets and personnel, state extension programs must develop innovative working relationships to enhance forest landowner education and support informed forest resource management decisions. |
