Summary:Mac users have long been proud that they do not have to type in commands to use their machines to the fullest. Now that Mac OS X has opened up the Unix command line, all the necessary tools are available to take advantage of some powerful programming and scripting capabilities, so Macs can do more odious work. Guidelines to leaning how to use the popular scripting language Perl, which is built into the OS X, are presented. Guidelines to a script that converts a Mac text file's line endings to line endings that Unix can interpret are presented.
