Summary: | Goal and Scope. The main objective of the present work is the study of manganese and iron mobility in sediments of a semi-enclosed marine system: Kalloni Bay, Island of Lesvos, Greece. The catchment area of the bay is drained by streams flowing during the wet season (October to May), which transport dissolved and particulate material to the marine environment. The streams under consideration in the present study are the Tsiknias and Vouvaris, with a drainage area consisting of igneous rocks, basalts, ignimbrites, etc. for the former and of ultramafic peridotites for the latter. |
