Description
Summary:•This case shows a dissociation on the skin injury and the internal injuries.•Lower speed shot, elasticity and post-mortem dehydration of the skin are factors involved.•Autopsy findings are not usual, especially if the artefact is not found.•Wound dissociation, wide bruise and unexpected smoothening may be specific signs. An interesting case of a suicide by a home made gun is described. A review of the literature is added. The entry wound is exceptional. The case shows that the forensic assessment of a home made gun case may be very difficult and implies to evaluate all the circumstances related to it. Specific forensic signs of home made gun injuries are suggested.
