Summary: | The Philodromidae or "running crab spiders" are a family of laterigrade, i.e. sideways-walking, spiders with all legs of essentially equal length. The family was regarded as a subfamily of the Thomisidae by early authors, but since the detailed study by Homann (1975) their family status has generally been accepted (see Platnick 2007). These spiders are found living under stones, under bark on trees, and in vegetation (Roberts 1995). |
