Past depressive experiences do relate to suicidal ideation even when controlling for current depressive symptoms

•Clinical and psychological assessments should routinely assess for past depressive experiences and not only for current symptoms, because these past experience may actually augment the risk of suicidality as indexed by suicidal ideation.
