Summary:Lower to Middle(?) Jurassic synorogenic rocks in the Mesozoic marine province of western Nevada were deposited in northwesterly trending half-grabens during regional extension. The development of extensional basins appears to be widespread in the northwestern Great Basin and may explain lithologically similar coeval rocks elsewhere in the western Cordillera of North America.
