Description
Summary:Ecotourism has demonstrated growth, and is growing, far in excess of the so-called mass tourism market. As such, it has both the potential to change the way people travel and to provide the means to care for the planet's diverse and rich resources. Western society cannot bring less developed countries up the western consumptive 'standard of living' without exhausting the earth's resources. Ecotourism, and the conservation ethic and ecological perspective embodied within, creates a situation where both the West and the less developed societies can converge toward the middle. It is thus conjectured that ecotourism is the elusive 'common ground' because it fundamentally changes the economic dynamics of business. Ecotourism recognizes the ecological and cultural costs of doing business as well as champions the so-called local economy.
