Description
Summary:Carl Heneghan and Igho Onakpoya, editors of BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, make no apology for having published a paper that criticised the conduct of an important Cochrane review of vaccines for human papilloma virus,12 which have been widely adopted around the world to protect against cervical cancer. The criticisms, which included the claim that 20 studies were not included in the literature studied by the Cochrane team, were rebutted with some force by the two top editors of the Cochrane Collaboration, David Tovey and Karla Soares-Weiser.34 They claimed that the criticisms were not warranted and that the paper gave an inaccurate and sensationalised report of the review’s findings. 30190376 5 Heneghan C Onakpoya I. Editors’ response to concerns over the publication of the Cochrane HPV vaccine review was incomplete and ignored important evidence of bias.
