Summary: | The low stock of cattle in the newly-formed German states leads to the employment of sheep for maintenance of lowland moor grassland. The high selectivity in the course of feed intake require methods of pasture management, which exceed the simple large units pasture systems. The course of DM-contents in growth shows a significant maximum in June. The growth of young sprouts in summer indeed allows the average content to decrease, but the conformation remains very unequal. By insertion of a cut important stuff parameters will be positively influenced (DM-content, raw fibre, crude protein). The late cut is not effective and can contribute to the pollution of fodder on biologically active pasture areas through distribution from earth heaps. |
