Summary: | Clinically speaking, the metastatic potential and five-year survival rates are higher with TNBC and tend to be more prevalent in the black population.1 Aside from the aggressive nature of TNBC, there are several socioeconomic factors that may play a role in survival difference. All TNBC patient charts were reviewed and analyzed for insurance status at the time of diagnosis, method of diagnosis, stage at diagnosis, and treatment course. Uninsured patients may have limited access to mammography center or primary-care physicians who are performing their annual breast examination.2 It is possible that uninsured women did not address their personal health for reasons beside the lack of insurance/cost. |
