DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUTH SWIMMERS WITH RE CHARACTERISTICS AND MOTOR ABILITIES
The main goal of this paper was to determine the relational differences and variations within anthropometric and motor abilities of Croatian cadet (at the age of 12, 13 and 14) and younger junior swimmers (at the age of 15 and 16). Summary: | The main goal of this paper was to determine the relational differences and variations within anthropometric and motor abilities of Croatian cadet (at the age of 12, 13 and 14) and younger junior swimmers (at the age of 15 and 16). The sample of subjects consisted of 80 male swimmers 12 to 16 years of age, undergoing a regular training process lasting 5 to 8 years (at least 5 times a week), divided into two age groups according to the Statute of the Croatian Swimming Federation. The outcome measurments consisted of 27 measures of anthropometric characteristics and 11 measures for the assessment of motor abilities. In order to establish statistically significant differences between the groups, a multivariate analysis of variance - MANOVA was used, whereas the determination of differences within variables pertaining to both groups of examinees was subject to the t-test. Based on the obtained results, we may conclude that a statistically significant difference exists between the group of cadet swimmers and the group of younger junior swimmers in the area of the skeleton longitudinal dimensionality, explosive and repetitive strength. |
