Description
Summary:The objective of this work was to design and construct an automatic gastight streamwater sampler capable of collecting samples during a 24-hour period. To minimize cost and complexity, wetted glass syringes with narrow collection tubes were used as sample containers. The streamwater sampler prototype was tested in a stream that contained elevated levels of volatile organic compounds, and it worked satisfactorily under field conditions. Syringe collectors were a reliable and cost-effective method of acquiring sequential gastight water samples.
