Description
Summary:Thirty-five years of pontificating to corporate managers has earned consultant John Diebold a place in business history. More than anyone else, Diebold first identified the computer revolution and persuaded top corporations to take management information systems (MIS) seriously. Today, his Diebold Group provides consultancy services to corporations on a variety of fronts, including the Diebold Research Program, which binds together the MIS directors of major corporations into a sort of corporate users group. However, this program recently has suffered from a combination of internal turmoil and external competition. Looking to the future, Diebold sees firms starting to make more innovative use of technology to redefine their businesses. He also sees new ways for computers to serve people, chips embedded in existing products, and new products designed around chips. In his personal life, Diebold maintains close contacts with some of the most influential people in the US.
