Description
Summary:The Honorary Editor has asked me to reflect on the Furniture History Society's involvement with Thomas Chippendale, or more precisely his prominent place in the Society's historical studies, during our first fifty-three years, and especially in the early years. This I do with some diffidence, because of my own part in the story. But who am I to go against the wishes of the Honorary Editor in this, her last issue of Furniture History? And it does give me the opportunity to thank Lisa White for her distinguished tenure of the editorship. The Society has very good reason to be grateful to her. Furniture History under her guidance has been full of absorbing material.
