description The American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session (ACC.19) was the most dynamic and well-received meeting I have experienced in more than 35 years of attending medical and scientific meetings in the United States and around the world. A post hoc analysis of the ACC.19 program points to several items that stimulated people to attend and to interact: first, cutting-edge science (especially reports on the evolution of transcatheter therapy for valve disease); second, innovative teaching and audience interaction in all sessions; third, reports on emerging technology, like the Apple Watch; and fourth, the publication of the 2019 ACC/American Heart Association (AHA) Guideline on the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease (1). A diet emphasizing intake of vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, whole grains, and fish is recommended to decrease ASCVD risk factors (Class I B-R).
