Summary: | As with most upgrades, the gration path to Gigabit Ethernet comes in stages. Gigabit Ethernet is deployed between different network devices as point-to-point links. These devices include full-duplex repeaters, network interface cards, switches, routers and servers. Initially, the best migration path into Gigabit Ethernet is achieved through the implementation of full-duplex repeaters. In many cases, full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet repeaters will out-perform 100-Mbps switches. |
