Summary:ANYONE who loves painting will have longed to visit the National Gallery of Art (N.G.A.) in Washington, D.C., this winter. After the revelation of the Kasimir Malevich show, which closed in early November but will be seen in Los Angeles and New York, the N.G.A. had two remarkable exhibitions on view to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Titian's birth in 1490 and the 350th anniversary of Sir Anthony Van Dyck's death in 1641.
