Summary:In this paper an analysis of the noise acoustic climate characterizing the urban area of Villa San Giovanni (Italy) is presented. The investigation has involved the experimental measurement of the main indexes for noise pollution and specifically the A-weighted continuous equivalent sound level L, and the cumulative statistical levels Llo, LS0, LgO. Contemporarily, traffic fluxes data of five vehicle classes have been taken. The survey has been carried out in 14 measurement sites selected to adequately represent the different areas of the municipal territory on the basis of an acoustical zoning proposed by the same authors.
