Summary: | Correspondence to Dr Katie Mckinnon, Paediatric Emergency Department, Royal London Hospital, London, UK; katie.mckinnon@nhs.net The Paediatric Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal London Hospital is part of a trauma centre and Children’s Hospital. Overall the focus of submissions was non-technical skills, looking at positive human factors influencing medical practice and patient care. Since its success in the Paediatric ED, it has also been adopted by the rest of the Children’s Hospital and Adult ED. Learning from Excellence is acknowledged as a way of recognising the hard work of team members in healthcare, improving staff morale and in turn improving patient safety.1 This study adds to the growing body of evidence demonstrating a demand for appreciation in the workplace, and how this can be done even within the high-pressured environs of paediatric ED. |
