Summary: | The Australian Defence Force operates a non-flying mock-up generic wide- bodied aircraft, broadly similar in appearance to the short-bodied Boeing 747 aircraft. This mock-up, which has a steel frame and weighs 180 tonnes, was built at about a quarter of the cost of the cheapest available used wide-bodied aircraft. It is capable of being towed to any position on the paved areas of the airfield where it is located.
