Description
Summary:The present state of modal analysis in Japan is reviewed. Firstly, the computer-aided vibration analysis system, which many advanced companies of the mechanical industry are eager to make use of, is illustrated. Secondly, the substructure synthesis method is classified into three kinds, and some of the merits of this method are mentioned. As an example of its application, the vibration of a 4-cylinder engine is analyzed. Thirdly, a technique of experimental identification of the dynamic character of a mechanical structure using the characteristic matrix is introduced, and some fundamental applications of this technique are shown in order to confirm its validity.
