Summary: | At most companies, video has traditionally been in the domain of the security department, reserved for evaluating events only after they have occurred. This is still very useful for forensically examining the past and should be used effectively to establish a security baseline. But thanks to new network video technology (also known as IP video), video now has the potential to serve as a vital component of any organization's proactive security, risk management and operations programs. When it comes to assessing risk, new video technologies such as surveillance are giving a variety of organizations from retailers to schools the power to see, respond, plan and mitigate their risks accordingly. The following are five ways video can be used to further a company's risk management efforts: 1. legal concerns, 2. employee safety, 3. operational improvements, 4. monitoring and training, and 5. multiple location monitoring. |
